VOICES_EU project team is proud to highlight a new capacity-building initiative advancing the safe and inclusive use of Artificial Intelligence. This initiative is led by our associated partner, the European Disability Forum (EDF) and funded by Google.org.
A Private Community for Inclusive Artificial Intelligence
Empowered by AI – Community of Practice (COP) on Accessible and Inclusive Artificial Intelligence is a private LinkedIn community bringing together:
• persons with disabilities
• organisations of persons with disabilities (OPDs)
• disability activists
• EDF staff
The goal is simple and powerful: to explore how AI can be used safely, accessibly, and effectively in advocacy, organisational work, communication, monitoring, events, and everyday life.
What Happens in the Community?
Members actively test and exchange experiences with a wide range of AI tools, including:
• automated captioning and transcription
• translation tools
• document and content production
• meeting assistants
• alt‑text generation
• monitoring and analysis systems
The COP also provides a shared space to examine how AI affects accessibility-related legislation such as:
• the Web Accessibility Directive
• the European Accessibility Act
• audiovisual and electronic communications legislation
What Can Members Do?
Within the community, members can:
• share accessible and inclusive AI tools and practices
• learn how to use AI safely, ethically, and responsibly
• exchange experiences from advocacy and organisational work
• contribute to recommendations and a practical toolkit for EDF members on national AI policy
• access resources, short trainings, and best practices developed through the project
Shape the Future of Inclusive AI
Artificial Intelligence is transforming how we communicate, organise, and advocate. This community ensures that persons with disabilities are not only included in this transformation — they lead it.
